20 Years of Caring
We're so grateful to our patients for two decades of your trust! Since the beginning, we've worked to innovate, improve, and serve, by putting patient needs first. We've seen times of joy, times of hardship, times of being apart (six feet apart, to be exact) and times of reuniting. We are so proud of the team we have built, and we're even more proud of our patients, who partner with us to maintain their good health. Take a trip down memory lane with us and enjoy these scenes from our story of twenty years of caring.
With love,
1997
Caring as a calling.
Chris and I met on August 9, 1993. We were in the elevator in our apartment building on the way to our first day of medical school orientation. From that moment, we were inseparable. Nearly four years later, in 1997, we graduated together.
2004
103 Arrandale Blvd.
The day we opened Christine Meyer, MD and Associates and Healthy Steps Pediatrics, my team consisted of me, my Mom, and Judy Platt. We had virtually no patients, no money, and all the hope and optimism in the world.
2008
The OGs: My first team.
Judy Platt was the first person we officially employed. Amy O’Grady was the first clinician we brought on, followed by Tom Kuhn as an MA. We taught Tom all he needed to know, and he taught us to smile more, laugh a lot, and not take ourselves too seriously. Clare Nanacasse started shortly after as an MA – she is now our Office Manager (and my absolute right hand). Each new role added a layer of patient care and service that we knew a truly great practice would need. This is CMMD power in one photo.
2012
Hiring my first physician.
Joan McFadden, MD joined Amy and I as the first physician to come aboard. I met her in a Starbucks in my sweaty exercise clothes. She was regal. I was a mess when she did not return my emailed job offers for three days. Just as I dipped into the recesses of despair, she replied. Apparently she was at her Mom’s where they had no internet service. One of the happiest emails of my career.
2013
Our own space, from scratch.
Haddie was 5 years old when we took on a terrifying and exciting project: a new office space of our own design. After 8 years, we had outgrown 103 Arrandale. In this photo, Haddie is standing in the shell of an office which would soon become 750 W. Lincoln Hwy – a sprawling 7,000 square foot space housing Healthy Steps on one side, and CMMD on the other. We designed the patient flows and every exam room to maximize comfort.

Opening Day at 750
July ushered in a new era for HSP and CMMD. Our space was huge and beautifully designed, thanks to my dear friend and interior designer Danielle Luongo. That day we celebrated, but my daughter Hadley, and Danielle’s daughters Ashley and Lexi (top right), were eerily quiet. Hours later, we saw water bubbling up through access panels in the brand new carpet. The girls had managed to flush enough paper towels down the toilets to clog them. To this day they are inseparable and trouble waiting to happen.
2013
A foundation is born.
Team CMMD was born at the same time Joan McFadden was coming on board and as we were designing the 750 office. This team-within-our-team started as 6 employees running 10 miles, and eventually expanded far across our community to raise over $1 Million for cancer research. Team CMMD is now the Rise Together Foundation, but the mission is the same: to care for neighbors and friends in our community struggling with cancer.
2016
Sharing the story.
In 2014, Team CMMD celebrated it’s one year anniversary. We had already raised and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars. I just knew our story needed to be shared. Writing The Longest Mile was one of the hardest things I have ever done but remains one of my proudest accomplishments.
2017
Expanding – again!
After vowing to NOT add any more people or office space, in January 2017, we opened a second location at 676 W. Lincoln Hwy to serve even more patients over more appointment hours. The wall feature was designed by Laura Mikowychok and the interior decor was again courtesy of Danielle Luongo. This office was called our “Zen Den” – not only lovely, but so quiet. Today, it, too, is bustling from morning to night.
2018
A colonoscopy, on camera.
I was 47 and technically did not NEED a colonoscopy. But, our patients needed a nudge. So, I put it all out there: my first colonoscopy was documented on camera. Patients still credit this video with convincing them to do what they never would have done. Despite some pretty ugly moments, it was so worth it – not only for my patients, but I had a precancerous polyp removed. Who knows what it would have been if I had waited three years.
2020
COVID hits.
There were two things that helped us survive the COVID-19 pandemic. The first was not really knowing or anticipating how bad it would get or how long it would last. The second was the sheer force of adrenaline our entire team had. Everyone showed up, in every way. Over Christmas break, Maisy came in and worked as my MA to help see dozens of patients we did not have room for.
2024
New ideas, here to stay.
Not all the accommodations we made as a result of COVID-19 were traumatic. We perfected our ability to host outdoor flu vaccine clinics, which serve hundreds of patients each year. We are really good at telemedicine now, serving some patients from the comfort of their homes. Most importantly, our patients know they can count on us to provide accurate information, timely care, and endless support in any public health emergency.
