More or less.
Dear Patients and Friends,
A new year has begun, but I'm still in awe thinking about the final weeks of 2024. Here’s a little timeline of the amazing things that happened in the CMMD world:
December 13th: We celebrated 20 years since opening our doors! The road has been long and rocky, but so worth it. (You can read more about the journey here.)
December 16th: My youngest daughter, Hadley, was accepted to her first-choice school, Lafayette College, AND received a merit scholarship.
December 20th: We signed on the dotted line for a new, THIRD office space! It is conveniently located right in our plaza, near the 676 office, and expands our ability to see patients with even more exam rooms. We’re planning to open in Spring 2025—stay tuned!
December 21st: The CMMD family and their loved ones came together for a big anniversary party to mark our 20-year milestone. It was a night to remember.
December 28th: Maisy’s boyfriend, Vishal, who’s been part of our family since they were 16, proposed to her! Even after nearly nine years of considering him family, their engagement brought me to tears.
And, of course, there was Christmas. Having all three kids home filled our house with joy (and chaos). Vishal, Mia, and Haddie’s boyfriend Scott were a part of our festivities and added to ALL the things that I cherish about our family.
We ate too much, laughed even more, and finished four puzzles while playing endless rounds of Poetry for Neanderthals and Taboo. Amid the fun, our washer and dryer worked overtime, and Chris and I stayed up far too late—only to sleep in even later.
Our kitchen rarely rested, with one meal’s cleanup morphing into preparation for the next. Daily treks to Wegman’s were made—the amount of food prepared and consumed was mind-boggling.
As I reflected on all this busyness, I realized something: for 2025, I want more of that.
But here’s the twist. My joy over the holiday break wasn’t just about doing more. It also came from doing less.
Here’s what I mean:
#1: I didn’t exercise a single day—and while I felt guilty, I didn’t miss it. For 2025, I aim to exercise less guilt about skipping workouts.
#2: I drank wine most evenings, then scolded myself each morning for slipping. Drinking less (or not at all) is still a goal, but I need less self-criticism.
#3: My sleep schedule was all over the place. This year, I’ll try to stick to a routine—but I also need less obsessing when life doesn’t follow the plan.
So yes, 2024 ended with many big moments, both personally and professionally. But for 2025, I’m looking forward to a little more—and a little less.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful New Year, filled with your own version of more and less.
